Senior Product Engineer (f/m/d) countX

Your mission

countX is a Berlin-based SaaS company that simplifies EU VAT compliance for e-commerce businesses. Our platform automates VAT registration, reporting, and compliance processes, enabling online merchants to expand across Europe with less administrative effort and lower compliance risk.

We are looking for a Senior Product Engineer to own features end-to-end – from problem analysis and system design to implementation and deployment, all the way to continuous improvement. You work autonomously across the entire stack and make pragmatic engineering decisions that create real customer value. At countX, you won’t be handed a backlog of predefined tickets; instead, we trust you to spot opportunities, define solutions, and bring them to life.

Our engineering team embraces modern AI-assisted development practices and works extensively with Claude Code to accelerate development and improve code quality. Our tech stack includes PHP, TypeScript, Python, Go, and React, and we value engineers who are comfortable working across technologies and choose the right tool for the problem at hand.

Your responsibilities

• You own product features from start to finish – from discovery and design to delivery, monitoring, and iteration
• You make well-founded system-design and architecture decisions, balancing speed, scalability, and maintainability
• You think in terms of infrastructure – you understand how your code runs, scales, and fails in production, and design accordingly
• You work autonomously with minimal guidance, set your own direction, and manage your own priorities
• You use Claude Code and modern AI-assisted development workflows to ship high-quality software faster
• You collaborate with Product, Design, and other engineers to turn ambiguous problems into shipped solutions
• You raise the engineering bar through pragmatic decisions, clean implementation, and continuous improvement

Your profile

• 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering
• Proven strength in system-design thinking – you can reason through trade-offs, boundaries, and scaling
• Strong infrastructural thinking – familiar with how systems are deployed, monitored, and operated in production
• Demonstrated, hands-on use of Claude Code and modern AI-assisted development methods
• Track record of working and delivering autonomously with minimal guidance
• Language-agnostic – you can get up to speed in whatever language a problem requires and be productive
• Platform-agnostic – confident across backend, frontend, cloud, and tooling when needed
• Strong ownership mindset and a bias toward shipping
• Strong, clear written and verbal communication in English
